Something Fantansmic

After touring Universal Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom we decided that we needed a rest.  So we spent our last day lounging around at the beach, specifically Blizzard Beach, while listening to the music of the Beach Boys.

Before.

After.

After toasting our selves at the beach, snorkeling in the lagoon, body surfing in the wave pool (these waves were over four feet) and riding all the water slides we were ready for an big meal and an evening on the town.  That is when we decided to drop in at the Brown Derby at Disney's MGM Studios.  By eating at the Derby, on this special program, you were guaranteed a seat the Fantasmic Show, which was something that we had to see.

From 1940 through 1970, The Brown Derby was the place where the movie stars dine in Hollywood.  The food was expensive and the conversation was exclusive.  Many a movie deal was struck in this restaurant.

No detail went un-noticed in reconstructing the interior for this landmark.  They even included the telephone jacks in the booths.   Remember this was long before cellular phones.  Many of the character drawings on the walls were borrowed from the original restaurant.
